biometric authentication system based on iri
s recognition will be developed
. The system is
to implement numer
ous image processing techniques in MATLAB to

identify a given iris
image.


Once the system is completed, testing of the algorithm and image proces
sing techniques
with
non standard (
amateur photography) Iris images

will

commence
.

public (above the age of 18) will be asked to voluntarily participa
te.
Volunteers will remain
anonymous.

onsent

form.

The testing poses no
risk to participant health.

The purpose of research and testing procedure will be explained to volunteers
.

Two images

(of the left eye)

will be taken per participant, one for the addition to the
system’s
recognition database and the other to test matching
to the database.

The study does not
benefit participants.

The photographs taken will be kept in line with the Health Professionals
Council of South Africa’s (HPCSA) regulations.
