Understanding of basic principles and methods of fluid dynamics and theory of elasticity.
With the aid of analytically tractable problems, the aim i
s to gain both qualitative and quantitative
understanding of various physical processes in continuum mechanics, necessary in formulating and
testing new mathematical models in the field.

Conservation equations for compre
ssible viscous fluid; laminar and turbulent flows, boundary layer;
thermal conductivity and diffusion in fluid mixtures, similarity laws; free convection; capillary waves;
sound and shock waves; fluid dynamics of combustion.
