SUIT 2-inch RECEIVERS THAT ARE NOT MACHINED
ACCURATELY TO THE STANDARD 51.8mm
As is often found particularly in some Chinese and Taiwan manufactured telescopes, variables are found in
machining accuracy of 2-inch drawtubes. This occurs usually when the cutting bit is worn down or replaced
without the necessary fine adjustments being made by the machine operator to ensure a consistent width. It can
mean a difference of 0.5 to 1 millimetre in some cases. While the HOTECH 2-inch SCA crosshair laser
collimation tool compensates for most slop using its patented radial tightening system of O-rings, sometimes a 2-
inch visual adaptor may come along with an ID that is simply too wide for the HOTECH collimator to obtain a
good internal grip.
The diagram below shows how one O-ring can be moved and placed next to a second O-ring to achieve a slightly
tighter fit should the need arise.
