Process Design in Healthcare

Process analysis and design has been used for many years in
manufacturing as a component of continuous quality improvement.
Healthcare and manufacturing are varied and applicability of industrial
process
-
design tools are of limited applicability in healthc
are.
However, a fair amount of training, experience, and competency in
patient
-
centred healthcare services would certainly be strong enablers
for quicker response, reduction in human error and enhanced patient
care.

Quality in Diagnostics

With a total of 50,000 pathology and diagnostic labs in India, only 300
laboratories are accredited by NABL or College of American Pathologists
(CAP).
Quality of report and quality of service are two important are
as in the
clinical laboratory practice. How this quality can help physicians, diagnose a
medical problem, treat correctly and in time is an important agenda. This
seminar aims to
create awareness on the importance of accreditations
amongst the users of lab

service for minimizing diagnostic errors.

Universal Healthcare: Dream or

The burning need of the hour is improving the quality of healthcare in the

Preventive Aspect of Indian System of Medicine

India has a rich heritage of traditional medicine dating back to hundreds of
years.
Moreover, a
lternative therapies are rapidly evolving into scientifically
proven methods of treatment especially in preventive care. In the light of the
fact that non
-

allopathic doctors constitute 48% of registered medical
practitioners in the country, there is a st
rong need of integrating Indian
Traditional Medicine with the conventional healthcare services with the aim to
bridge the short term human resource gap in healthcare sector and evolve
standard practices for AYUSH practice.

Communicable Diseases: Prevention & Control

The socio
-
economic impact of NCDs is growing at a very alarming rate with
nearly 63% of all deaths coming from NCDs and chronic ailments. WHO
estimates that a 2% reduction in chronic disease deaths in India, over the next
10 years could result in a gain of 15 Bn USD

for the country. It
would however
take a combined effort form all stakeholders to make a real difference to tackle
this menace. The session aims at deliberating awareness, screening and
management aspects of NCDs and also showcase work done by FICCI’s tas
kforce
in the area.
