I.

Application for Mainframe computer usage and modifications

1.

Undergraduate students may apply on the basis of course requirements.

2.

Master

s a
nd Ph.D. students can only apply on the basis of dissertation
requirements.

3.

Teachers can apply on the basis of National Science Council

s Special
Project or Curriculum

s Research Project

4.

Extend the usage period when it expires.

II.

Application and administrative guidelines for using the computer classroom

1.

All

teachers or administrative units of this university du
e to actual need or
institution

campus
, may apply for the usage of the computer
classroom

s facilities.

mpus institutions applicants must attach an
official correspondence to the application request. The PC classroom

s
main use is for practical hand
s
-
on teaching
purposes; therefore

teachers
should use the regular classroom for
normal

classes.

2.

The PC classro
om

s available hours for reservation are announced every
semester.

3.

Students should present student IDs, and teachers or staff personnel of the
university
should

present proper identifications when using the computer
classroom.

4.

For the protection of the har
dware in
the

computer classroom, all
back
-
packs need to be stored on the 2
nd

floor

s shelves. Only textbooks
and disks are allowed to be carried inside the classroom.

5.

The covers on the mainframe computers are not to be opened by the user.
Any unauthorize
d action shall result in the cancellation of the right of usage
and handled according to petty theft charges.

6.

Damage of the hardware equipments and its accessories must be
compensated and the right of usage shall be cancelled.

7.

The computers are solely for
the purpose of coding exercises. Computer
games are strictly prohibited.

8.

Proper attire is required when entering the computer classroom. Food and
drink is not allowed.

9.

Maintenance staff shall wear the proper ID at all times; otherwise it shall be
conside
red as theft. The ID

s can be registered and obtained from the
computer center

s administrative personnel.

10.

When students violate rules, it shall be reported to the Student Affairs
Office and handled according to Student Disciplinary guidelines.


III.

Computer
application software

s reservation

1.

The computer software provided by the computer center
is

for the purpose
of on
-
campus teaching and research
. All other uses violate

intellectual
property rights, and one shall bear all the consequences for misuse.

2.

Grad
uate students and teachers may borrow the software from the
Campus
Information System Division
, but the software can only be used within the
Center

s premises.

3.

If the teacher requires the use of software during class, the class
representative may request t
he software with the teacher
