Kuali Service Council Meeting Notes

Here are notes from the meeting:

Attendance: Dirk, Brian, Shaun, Ranji, Mary, Ankur, Lakshimi and Eric

1. Review and submittal of Clearing House

Shaun did not get any feedback and since two of the voting member
s were not
present we decided to table the decision until next week’s meeting. Brian expressed
concern that we need to make progress and did not want to delay so we also noted
that any work should go ahead even though we won’t have officially approved what

role the Service Council plays in approving or disapproving what gets in the clearing
house.

2. KME Migration for UMich

The University of Michigan expects to have the News, Locations and Events Tools
developed by the middle of February. Then we will tackl
e (in this order) the Menus,
Magic Bus and Directory Tools. Also Mark McManamay provided some tasks this week
to his fellow KME developers to help with the completion of the tools.

We will go ahead and target the University of Michigan site visit for the

middle of
February (and maybe focus on the roll
-
out

and deployment architecture for the three
completed tools and create a beta native Android App). Brian indicated we should
decide by Wednesday, February 1
st

if we want to change the date of this site vis
it. Mary
encouraged Cornell to look at the “5 development steps” that the UM Developers are
using to help with planning.

3. KME Migration for Cornell

Eric gave an update: now have a project manager Andy. Expect to meet with
communication possibly this wee
k or next, to "peel back the onion" of what is behind
the tools. They are now working on a project structure, have an internal doc. The first
tools that Michigan is focusing on do not appear to be a concern.

4. Plans to attend Kuali Community Workshop in A
pril?

Brian explained the 2 annual Kuali events: Kuali Days is a public facing event with
presentations, and Kuali Community Workshop in April is a project facing event
coordinated by the foundations. We could possible work through the next set of work
p
lanned. We all need to attend or it is not a good use of time.

Brian will share the exact
date and location next week.

Thanks, Mary
