Re; The stainless cable railing system we discussed:

Dear Mr
. Westerfeld,

Have gone over the prints you sent. We can produce railings very close to this but with a few
changes:

All of the railing members would be stainless tubes, not solid bar.

All outside rails would be type 316 stainless steel

which caries a
cost premium
. The inside rails
should be the standard type 304 for the sake of cost.

All cables and fittings would be type 316 stainless. Cable diameter would be 3/16”.

There are two special shapes of top rail, see sketches, not available in stainless
steel. Could do as
round.

We are required to meet International Building Code standards on all USA projects. Therefore we
routinely flag anything not complying.
All guard rails, including guards on stairs
,

must not allow a 4” sphere to go through bel
ow 34”
height. This requires a 3
-
1/4” cable spacing
to allow for cable flex.

Stairs are required to have grip rails on both sides, not less then 34” or more than 38” above the
nose line or level areas.

We understand you do not have the same constraint
s
. We will take your direction but will not be
responsible for any outcome from following that direction.

These deviations may well remove us from consideration. If
not, we can more completely review the
prints for quantity and pricing.

Respectfully,

Conrad A. Shrader
