We have achieved Phase 1, plus released components earlier than anticipated.
Components

A collaboration agreement has been formulated and the final organisation is about to sign!
Once this has been completed we can form new alliances with Lion Biosciences. This took a
long time!

Initia
lly, due to delays in completion of collaboration agreement, the workflow enactment
engine was released to individual partners under a bespoke license agreement. Since then,
IT Innovation has made the enactment engine available as open

Management Procedures

The project is
a difficult one to manage.
We have six sites with their own agendas and
collaborations with other local projects. Creating a team unity is tricky, and hasn’t yet been
entirely successful. But we are working on it.

It has taken our project manager some time

to
settle down.

Every 4
-
5 months the myGrid developers meet for an “integration
-
fest” that la
sts a week.

W
e have had several ways of organising the management meetings of all the Co
-
investigators and are still experimenting

with which works best.

Weekly teleconference calls (Oct 2001

July 2002)

Monthly AccessGrid meetings (Aug 2002

Dec 2002)

Two day face t
o face meetings (January 2003

onwards).

In addition sub
-
groups meet regular: for architecture, user requirements and provenance.

We use a range of p
roject management
and communication
tools: a BSCW document server,
WIKI, bulletin board and various mail
ing lists
, and a CVS software repository and build
environment
.

Email and AccessGrid is heavily used.

Each site has regular (weekly) meetings for those at their site.

Manchester operates a cross

promote collaboration and the

The projects involved are:

myGrid, GEODISE,
MIAS

GRID
, GONG and
WonderWeb.
