Any experience you have that shows your leadership and cr
eativity will impress a person the most.
Hence, put those first in your paper.

lack a level of
analysis that admissions officers yearn to see. Specifically, in each of your examples, you need
to discuss what you learned beyond just the material. Whether it was how to approach complex

experiences will give your statement a more personal touch and once again distinguish you from
other applicants. One caution is not to be too grandiose. Do not say, for instance, that every
experiment you di
d was life changing; rather, discuss how a chain of experiments improved your
critical thinking abilities, etc.



With regards to grammar, you have a tendency to confuse verb tenses. You must remember
that actions or experiences that already happened requ
ire you to use the past tense when writing.

In my sophomore year, I joined the Guangdong Goworld Ultrasonic Instrument, the biggest
company of ultrasound equipment in China. During that time, I procured lots of experience using

and PSPICE. I also assisted other engineers i

and observed the criterion of the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layer. Meanwhile

and gained significant knowledge of VLSI circuits.

During my junior year, I was selected to receive the three

month summer training in Electrical
Innovate Teaching Lab of

. The summe
r training is only for thirteen teams, each with three
students who were selected to take part in the 2007 National Undergraduate Electronic Design
Contest (NUEDC). I read a lot of papers about the filters of all sorts and prepared some simple
circuit modu
les to resolve any difficulties we may face in the contest. I was responsible for the

whole section of the analog technology experiment and I also focused on some design work of the
Microcontrollers Systems. After four days of intensive work my team won th
e Third Class award
at the Tianjin Site with a project entitled “Programmed Controller Filter.” We competed with
6,122 teams from various universities in the 2007 NUEDC.


In addition to my research experience, my innovative spirit and personal determinatio
n will allow
me to be a successful researcher in this field. My original entry, Exploration Survival System
(E.S.S.), won the Nominee Prize in the 2008 iF concept award competition and was exhibited at
the hall CeBIT in Germany. Observing the inconvenience

in social life always stimulated me to
invent or design some creative inventions to solve these inconveniences. My new entry, 360
Power Saver, which is an electrical outlet that offers various levels of power
-
consumption as well
as a programmed time
-
switc
h function, is currently a contender for t the 2009 iF concept award.
