Project Management software tools

Software
to manage projects can be divided into two major groups:

1.

traditional project management tools: optimal use of resources (means, people,
cost
-
follow up). They mainly focussed on one (major) project.

Typical examples
are : Microsoft Project, Niku Project Wor
kbench, Primavera, Planview.

2.

Professional Services Automation: software for professional services providers.
Next to project management they also deal with resources and financial
management. They are amlost always web
-
enabled. Examples are: Inteligent
Pl
anner (Augeo), Hydra (Program Management Group), Evolve. These programs
are meant for service providers with many small projects and interactions. ERP
providers (Oracle, SAP, Peoplesoft, Siebel) and groupware programs (Notes,
Exchange, Teamware Office) are

also active in this area. Web
-
based project
management applications are e.g. erroom.com and eproject.com. Belgian tools for
virtual project teams are ContactOffice and Mail.be.
