Ashutosh
welcomes

the attendees of the meeting.

Ashutosh discusses
the slides (
GISFI#11 CSeON
Pre
-
meeting
Discussion
) and introduces the current
vision and
charter
.

The progress of CSeON was shown with considerable delays owing to renewed
focus of CSeON WG and also not enough relationship with CSeON

stakeholders in India.
The need for
modifying the vision and charter to include the Cloud Computing perspective is highlighted. Krishna
suggests that the CSeON WG charter should be a formal contribution to GSSM#11 and should be
made available to all the m
embers to review and comment on. This suggestion was agreed upon.

Ashutosh discusses the slides which lay emphasis on better collaboration for Cloud Computing with
other organizations. Niranth mentioned about IEEE Cloud
computing

efforts within IEEE SA In
dia of
which Debu is the leader and invited Debu to offer some suggestion on the collaboration. Debu
mentioned that the IEEE Cloud Computing efforts in India has in early phase and the collaboration is
a good idea. Debu will provide the contacts for the Li
aison. Ashutosh to send the Liaison to Debu.

Debu also mentioned about efforts on Cloud computing by Government of India through another
group formed by Sam Pitroda
. The
related
Joint Working Group (JWG) has submitted a document in
which many companies pa
rticipated like Huawei, IBM, etc
.
Krishna shared that the vision of
Government of India is to connect each village in India with Broadband Access and utilize Cloud
computing
for e
-
Education purpose. Specifically to cloud enable the library resources. Krish
na
mentioned about a conference to be held on the same topic in Feb

13 and invited the participating
companies to submit technical papers on this topic. Krishna will share the details of the conference
on email. As Krishna was handling the role of relation
ship lead with government officials for
GreenICT WG, Ashutosh requested Krishna to manage relationship with government officials for
CSeON WG too. Krishna accepted the request.

Anand mentioned about a conference

by IEEE on Cloud Computing the link
(
http://ewh.ieee.org/ieee/ccem/
) to which were shared by Debu and Anand on email

later
.

The
focus of this conference was to
address the unique challenges and opportunities of cloud computing
in emerging markets

and e
specially India
.

Debu highlighted that IBM has a major focus on Cloud
computing within Indian context also and GISFI should invite the contact at IBM. Debu, Ashutosh and
Prof. Ramjee to facilitate this invitation.

Debu mentioned about reaching out to rece
ntly formed
committee
on Cloud Computing Policy
Framework, which is headed by Kris Gopalakrishna of Infosys. Ashutosh also mentioned that this
focus was also captured in the slides.

The Cloud Computing Policy Framework Committee was setup
following instructions from IT and Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal.

Debu mentioned that TRAI also works on Cloud related regulations. Mr
. R
obert

may need to be
contacted regarding the same. Debu will provide the contact

information

to Ashutosh.

On the topic of collaborations, Ashutosh mentioned about the successful collaborations we have
with IEEE P1903 (NGSON) group managed by Niranth. A
shutosh mentioned that he is currently
managing relationships with IETF CCNS group through Bhumip Khasnabish. He was further asked to
provide the LS to IETF IAB. Ashutosh will follow up. Ashutosh presented that
collaboration

with TEC
is very important and
currently

the weakness within CSeON WG. Ashutosh will send Liaisons to
Information Technology (I) Division, TEC and Next Generation Network (NGN) Division, TEC. The
contacts are Mr. J.M. Suri, DDG (I) and R.R. Mittar, DDG (NGN). Personal invitations to be
provided to
DDG and Directors of both these divisions in TEC.

Ashutosh mentioned that he has received many contributions from Devendra. Devendra requested
the group members to initially review the contributions and provide him suggestions to provide
focus
sed contributions to GSSM#11. An action point has been noted on Chair, Vice
-
Chair and
Rapporteurs of CSeON WG for conducting the review and providing suggestions to Devendra by
email.

Ashutosh discussed the status of each TR and proposed actions.
