 Course Content:
This course covers: the historical development of biotechnology. Techniques in genetic
engineering; identifying food genes; methods of isolation of DNA and RNA. Methods
of control of genetically characters of the microorganisms; cloning and other modern
techniques of biotechnology. It also deals with fermentation technology and
bioreactors; batch and continuous cultures; food enzymes; production of food additives;
microbial biomass; waste management; biotechnology and ethics.
