Host Access Transformation Services
means what it says. You are transforming
the host access which is the
3270
interface.

The Telnet
3270
connection is the HATS
main resource.

HATS represents a “
Zero
” footprint to the
host. A HATS application looks like any
other emulator traffic.

HATS can greatly enhance the end user
experience but the host is the host and a
HATS application is limited by what the
host can do.

HATS applications will focus on ISPF
interactions since this is where the green
screen (3270) interface comes into play.

ISPF usage differs user to user so your
HATS applications should focus on the
following:

Repeatable processes

Duplicate data entry

Simplified screen navigation.
