Shared Gover
nance Committee Reports

1.

S
helly
reported on items/issues covered during the Distance Education and Information
Technology Committee
.
One of them is the fact that
Chris Beck is leaving
; to
morrow is
his last day.
Shelly also mentioned that IT is
working on
fixing the WiFi.
Also, the
CRC
website is going to be transitioning into a new look

during the summer and extending
into the fall, using a new software program called
Drupal.

Shelly said that SARS Call
software, which is used to make
batch calls to stude
nts
is going
to be phased out
and
replaced by SARS Messaging, which will instead send out
text messag
es
and emails

to
students
.
There is a demo scheduled for April. Shelly reported that,
as of
March 15
th
,
25,123 current students have upgraded to
G
oogle
mail.

After June 1
st
,
if a student does
not update to
G
mail, they will lose
the messages
in their mailbox
. Because Gmail
doesn’t automatically forward
their school email
to other outside email account
s
,
students
will
need to set
up
the forwarding
command

again once they’ve moved over to
G
mail.

Shelly was not
sure if
an alert was
going to go out to student about the June 1
st

deadline.

Call for Participants

1.

Breanne feels the job
of pl

not fall on just three people (Shevonna, April and Mary).

Everything
should be in place and ready to go if the application gets approved.
Breanne thinks there should be a call for

classified staff.

We need

Breanne reported that the Patron’s Club is asking for ways to be more involved on
campus and one way is to develop
a $250.00 scholarship with the Senate and C

. There could be 10 people donating $25.00 each, for example. It’s one way to
be
recognized on campus

a good marketing tool.

Chou asked if it was necessary to go
through the Patrons Club and the answer is no.
Breanne asked the
area reps
to
check
with their areas to get feedback.
