11. Extension Activity:
The Extension activity of the department included Farmer’s field visits,organizing of
meetings, and conduct of exhibitions to popularize new agricultural technologies developed
by the department. The subject matter specialists make field visit based on the problems
expressed by the farmers to make spot study, to diagnose the cause and to give solutions.
The demonstrations relating to Bio-fertilizer technology especially the methods of application
well received by the farmers and found useful to them.
The department of Microbiology organized various training programmes on Bio-
inoculants production,quality control and the application methods to Assistant Directors of
Agriculture, Agriculture Officers, Agriculture Chemists,Additional Directors and Deputy
Directors, Government of Tamil nadu. The training programmes were conducted at various
places. Biofertilizers, Azospirillum, Rhizobium Phosphobacteria were mass produced and
supplied to Agriculture faculty farm and garden, farmers and NGO’S
