How to connect to the Access Database


1.

Find out what IP number you are currently using.

a.

This means going to
http://www.whatismyip.com

Write down what it
says your number is. Email that information to
sara@lss.wisc.edu

2.

Go to
http://gborg.postgresql.org

3.

Click
psqlodbc (right side)
.

4.

Click downloads (middle, right)

5.

Click
ht
tp://www.postgresql.org/mirrors

ftp.php

6.

Choose one of the US sites to download from.

7.

Choose ODBC folder

8.

Choose Versions

9.

Choose MSI

10.

Choose psqlodbc

07_03_0100.zip (which as of this writing on 3/3/2004 is the
second newest)

It will ask to download. Downloa
d this somewhere on your computer where you
can find it again.

12.

After the download is complete, find the file and open it. (If you have problems
opening it, you may want to download an unzipping program)

13.

There is within this file something called psqlodbc.
msi. Double click this.

14.

This will run an installation program. Install according to the prompts provided.

15.

Download the Access DB that is currently in use. (
http://ling.wisc.edu/sara/
)

16.

Open it. It should open
to forms. Open the form “All Fields”. Enter your
password when prompted. You should be able to connect.

Change Files of Type to ODBC Databases/

Go to Machine Data Source. Click New.

Choose User Data So
urce. Click Next.

Choose PostgresQL ODBC Unicode Beta from list. Choose Next.
