Remote Connection to VM Computers

This document will help you install the VMware client

on your computer which
will allow you
to access your VM computer remotely from outside the district. This document
was

created
using computers

that have Internet Explorer 8 or

9 installed. If you have another internet
browser, you may have a different experience.

1.

In Internet Explorer go to
https://viewdesktop.rcas.org

and then click on the “Continue t
o
this
website (not Recommended
) link

as seen below.




2.

If you have not connected before, you will be required to install the View Clie
nt. Make sure
View Client
is selected and click download.

Do not use the View Client with Local Mode.








3.

Depending on
the version of Internet Explorer, You will see different message boxes for
downloading the client.

Step 3a is for Internet Explorer 8 and Step 3b is for Internet Explorer 9.


a.

Left Click on the message bar that reads “To help protect your security, etc”
and select
download file.

(This step is for a computer that has Internet Explorer 8 installed)


b.

Click on Run on the message “Do you want to run or save VMware
-
viewclient.exe from
viewdesktop.rcas.org” that appears at the bottom of the screen
.

(This step i
s for a
computer that has Internet Explorer 9 installed)







4.

Click Run

in the Internet
Explorer
-

Security Warning box.


5.

Click Next on the welcome to the Installation Wizard for VMware View Client



6.

Click Next on the End User Patent Agreement box.







7.

Click “I accept the terms in the license agreement” and click next.


8.

Click
next

on
the Custom Setup

screen accepting the defaults
.



9.

In the Default Connection Server
Box,

type viewdesktop.rcas.org and click next.

10.

Click Next

to accept the defaults on the Enhanced Single Sign On box.


11.

Click next

to accept the defaults on the Configure Shortcuts box.


12.

Click install

on the Ready to Install the Program box.









13.

Click on Finish

on the Installer Completed box



14.

Click on Yes to

reboot the computer














Use the following steps to log on to your VM for the first time

Log back into your computer and go back to the
https://viewdesktop.rcas.org

and the website
will check for the view client and launch it as seen below. Enter your username and password
and click Logon
.
NOTE: (Depending on your security settings on your computer, You may have
to click Allow 3 times more to allow access)



16.

When
the View 4.6 screen appears to allow you to select a pool, click the small arrow to the
right and click on Display Pro
tocol and verify that

PCoIP (default)

is selected
and then click
connect.






You may use the following steps to connect to your VM remotel
y after the first time you connect.

If you followed the document and have connected to your VM once, you may now click the VMware
View Client Icon on your desktop to log in. You will get the same Vmware View 4.6 logon boxes as steps
15 & 16 but will not ha
ve to go to the
https://viewdesktop.rcas.org

web page. Clicki
ng the icon after
your have gone
through this document allows you to use the desktop icon and not need the webpage.


When clicking on the desktop ico
n just make sure that viewdektop.rcas.org is in the connection server
box and click connect.
