Introduction

Welcome to Ceg468. This application will simulate the operating parameters of
L
R
-
COIL, SR
-
COIL, and
SR
-
SSL

lasers.

In addition, t
h
is

application will allow users to enter default parameters, and it will
calculate derived parameters in real time.

This manual will step you through the process of
operating

the application on a Windows 7 machine.




Starting the Application

Before beginning,
you
will need Netbeans 6.7.1 installed with Java JDK
1.5

or above. To run the
application, follow these steps:

1.

Load the project.

Select File


Open Project and then navigate to your project directory. Select
the package “Ceg468” and click “Open Project”

(Figure 1).

Click the “Run Project” icon; this icon is represented by a green arrow

(Figure 2)
.



Note: Although this application
works on any Java
-
enabled platform, the screenshots
pictured will look different.

You will see the main screen displayed (Figure 3).

Finding Help

At any time, help is available by clicking Help


User Manual. This is found in the upper
-
right corner
(Figure 3).

Entering

Parameters

1.

Select the operating mode to begin entering parameters. Click “Mode,” and then the type of
laser you would like to simulate: “LR
-
COIL,” “SR
-
COIL,” and “SR
-
SSL” (Figure 4).

Enter parameters by select
ing a desired text field and then typing the desired number (Figure 5).
The application will update all derived parameters in real time.

Loading and Saving Data

Ceg468 allows the user to save parameters to disk and ret
rieve them later.

Saving Data

To save a set of data, perform the following steps:

1.

Click File


Save (Figure 6).

Enter a name for the saved file in the “File Name” field and click “Save As.”

Loading Data

To load a set of data, perform the following steps:

1.

Click File


Open (Figure 8).

Navigate to the file in the file browser and click “Open” (Figure 9).

The parameters in the main window will be updated automatically.

Graphing Data

Ceg468 allows you to graph the following types of parameters:

Entering Graph Mode

To enter graph mode, perform the following steps:

From the main menu, click View

Graphing Data

To graph data, follow these steps:

1.

Select the X
-
axis variable by selecting it from the dropdown (Figure 11):

Enter your minimum value for the X axis and the maximum value for the X axis (Figure 13).

Exiting Graph Mode

To exit graph mode, click View
