Message from Honourable Vice Chancellor
Knowledge has many forms and it is available at many places. It is acquired through
education, information, intelligence and experience. Educational systems are the
highest expression of each people's national consciousness, culture and traditions.
Higher education is therefore very important to national economics, both as a significant
industry in its own right as well as source of trained and educated personnel for the rest
of the economy.
Education and that too national system of education is the only instrument that can
reach all people imparting change in the overall mindset of citizens. Veer Narmad South
Gujarat University, Surat is moving ahead to fulfil the immediate need of highly qualified
and well educated students through overall development for state as well as nation.
The course like Biotechnology and Microbiology are today's demand as world is facing
problems at many fronts like food shortage and malnutrition, global warming and
disease among various life forms. Computer science is fast emerging field and has
become basic necessity for all.
I am very hopeful for the new initiation of Joint Centralized Admission Committee to
conduct admission procedure online for the first time. My blessings are always there for
the students pursuing their courses at Veer Narmad South Gujarat University and
affiliated institutes for their betterment and bright future.

I have great pleasure in welcoming students to pursue higher education at the Veer
Narmad South Gujarat University. University education includes teaching, research and
social services activities. It includes at both graduate and postgraduate level.
The University has taken immense measures to bring qualitative and quantitative
changes in the field of higher education. University has excellent infrastructure facilities-
Hostels, Sport Complex, Central Library with internet facility, Convention hall,
Amphitheatre as well as Laboratories. Most of the admission procedures have been
converted to ONLINE imparting transparency in to the system.
This brochure provides information of the various degree courses, details of affiliated
colleges and University department itself. It also covers detailed admission procedure
and schedule. I am sure this will help aspiring students for participating in the learning
process.
I also congratulate Joint Centralized Admission Committee of Microbiology, Computer
Science and Biotechnology for their initiation and hard work to grant online admission.

A candidate who has passed the 12th standard with science stream shall be considered eligible for
admission. For computer science course 12th pass with vocational stream or diploma engineering pass
are also eligible.
General Rules
Eligibility Criteria
1. School leaving certificate.
2. Certified copy of marksheets of S.S.C. and H.S.C.
3. Certificate from civil-surgeon for the physically handicapped (PH) candidates.
4. Certificate from Govt. and /or department of social welfare in prescribed forms
for income and Caste/category for SEBC and SC/ST candidates.
5. Certificate of non-inclusion of 2012-13 creamy layer for SEBC candidates.
6. Certificates in original will have to be submitted at the time of admission.
7. Ex. or In service certificate.
8. Sports certificate (National appearance / state level first only).
9. NCC certificate (B or C).
Submitted forms are to be verified at respective centre (through login Id of centre itself).
After verification, help centre will issue duly signed first acknowledgment slip to the applicant and
second slip will be attached with the application form submitted by the applicant.
Help centre will submit all forms with acknowledgment to the Joint Centralized Admission
Committee.
There shall be time period (Approximately 3 days) for checking and correction of all application
form submitted by the applicants as decided by the Joint Centralized Admission Committee.
Merit list shall be uploaded on the website on specified date.
No change shall be encouraged after merit list has been uploaded on website.
For each degree course/programme there shall be separate merit list for SC, ST, SEBC, PH, Other
Board and GENERAL category which will be displayed on the website on specified date.
All the students in SC, ST, SEBC and PH category will be included in GENERAL merit list also
with the students of OPEN category.
In case of equal percentage marks following order will be executed to break the tie between more
than one applicants:
1. Those having more percentage practical marks shall be considered first.
2. Those having more percentage marks in 10th Standard.
3. Age: Applicant who is older will get first priority.
Students have to apply for respective programme by duly filling in form ONLINE only.
Applicants have to take print out of filled form.
Applicants are requested to submit their form to anyone help centre where thorough checking for
eligibility criteria, required attested/self attested documents as mentioned below will be done:

Following shall be the distribution (percentage wise) of total reserved seats in respective
degree course/programme:
1. For SC candidates 7% seats.
2. For ST candidates 15% seats.
3. For SEBC candidates 27% seats.
For each above mentioned category, 3% seats will be reserved for PH (Physically
Handicapped candidates). Minimum 40% disability is must for reserved seats in PH category
(P W D Act 1995).
Widows and orphan candidates shall also be included in 27% SEBC reserved seats.
There shall be 5% reserved seats out of total seats for candidates of other board (in Gujarat)
and 1% seat for other board (out of Gujarat). Their seat allocation shall be considered as per
merit.
In case if seats remain vacant in other board category, that vacant seat shall be allocated to
candidates of GHSEB (Gujarat Higher Secondary & Education Board).
To take advantage of reservation seats, all candidates are required to fullfill eligibility and
submit necessary documents along with the application form. If they fail to do so, they will automatically be considered in OPEN category.
Super Numeric seats: As per University Rules
1. For the ward of In- service and Ex-service army men
2. For the ward of Government and Semi-government officials who is transferred. Seats will
be allocated as per ordinance 69 (6).
3. Foreign candidates if they are recommended by Ministry of External Affairs, Government of
India. In such cases Principal has to take permission of Honourable Vice-Chancellor and can
grant direct admission after submitting necessary documents to the University.
4. Total 3 seats for the candidates who have mark achievement in sports at state level and
national level. They should produce necessary documents/certificates etc.
Following will be the order of seat allocation:
1. PH candidates
2. General Category candidates- up to 10% seats.
3. All SC category.
4. All ST category.
5. All SEBC category.
6. All category candidates.
7. If seats remain vacant as in order 1, 3, 4 and 5, those seats will be allocated to OPEN
category.
8. Finally all seats will be allocated to candidates in OPEN category.

Guidelines to fill online application form
From current year, on-line admission process is being introduced. Hence forms are to be
compulsorily be filled in through Internet and all the instructions given in this information
booklet must be followed without fail. Information related to Admission Process for
Undergraduate Courses (B.Sc. Computer Science, B.Sc. Microbiology, M.Sc.
Biotechnology) can be obtained from web-site.
Students must visit any of the colleges and obtain information booklet as well as a
sealed envelope containing Form Number and Password by paying Rs. 300/-
Students are advised to ensure that they have decided choices of program, medium &
colleges and have all the information ready before they login to web-site.
This information booklet must be read very carefully and instructions for filling up on-
line admission form, given in page number 7 through 15, must be followed properly.
Students can fill up the on-line admission form conveniently at their home. Those who
are unable to do so can visit above colleges. Details of colleges are also given in this
information booklet.
On-Line Form Submission Receipt must be printed and submitted to college along with
self-attested photocopies of School Leaving Certificate, all mark sheets of SSC as well as
HSC, other required certificates etc.
College will verify and issue stamped acknowledgment.

2. By clicking on 'Login' menu on https://ugbsc.vnsguadm.org website,
following screen will appear.
2.1.Form Number & Password given in the envelope must be typed in User Name / Form No. &
Password fields respectively in the above screen and then click on 'Login' button. Following screen will appear.
2.2.Please note that the Form Number & Password is case sensitive and must be typed as it is
given in envelope.
3.Students to select question of their choice and type its answer in 'Enter Answer' field, same
answer must be typed in 'Re-Enter Answer'
3.1.Students must always remember answer of the question. This will be useful in case
password is forgotten or password needs to be changed. Please note that the answer typed is case sensitive. Hence must be remembered and typed in accordingly when needed.3.2.Now click on 'Login' button. Admission form will appear on screen.

4. Personal Details
Students must enter all the details very carefully
4.1.Name must be typed in exactly the way it appears in HSC mark sheet. Last Name or
Surname must be typed first. Please ensure there are no spelling mistakes.4.2.Phone Number must be typed along with STD code. Students must also type Mobile Phone
No. If required, Parent's Mobile Phone Number can be provided. This is required to send various
admission related information through SMS time to time.4.3.Students also must type in their e-mail address. This is required to send information like
Online Form Submission Receipt, Acknowledgement, Acknowledgement for Changes in College
Choices, Provisional Admission Letter, etc. through e-mail.
4.4.Birth Date must be typed in DD-MM-YYYY format. E.g. If birth date is 28th December 1994
then type 28-12-1994, If birth date is 6th May 1993 then type 06-05-19934.5.Students must select correct Reservation Category.
4.6.Only those students having certificate of 40% or more physical disability from Civil Surgeon
can click on 'YES' against 'Physically Handicapped' field.4.7.Click either 'Male' or 'Female'
4.8.Click either on APL (Above Poverty Line) or BPL (Below Poverty Line) as appearing on
Ration Card.4.9.Students eligible for admission on sport quota can tick against 'Eligible for Sports Quota'
field.4.10.In case student is from minority community, please tick against 'Minority' field
4.11.Children of Ex Serviceman can tick against 'Ex Serviceman' field.

5.Academic Details
1.1.Students must select the correct stream in which they have passed HSC exam. Science -
Group A, Science - Group B, Science - Group AB, Science - Vocational, Diploma Engineering.
1.2.Students passing HSC from Gujarat Board to select GHSEB. Students passing HSC
exams from other board to select 'Other Board'. In this case, one more field will appear on screen where name of the board to be typed correctly. Students passing HSC exams from other
state to select 'Other State'. In this case, one more field will appear on screen where name of the board to be typed correctly.
1.3.Students selecting Diploma Engineering as stream can't select GHSEB as Board.
1.4.Students to select Medium of passing HSC exam
1.5.Type number of attempts in passing HSC/Diploma exam. E.g. If HSC/Diploma exam is
cleared in first attempt then type 1, in case of passing in second attempt then type 2, passing in fourth attempt then type 4 etc. 1.6.The exam seat number, month and year appearing on last mark sheet clearing
HSC/Diploma exam must be typed in correctly. HSC/Diploma Exam Center and Center Code
must also be typed correctly.
1.7.Name of School from where student has studied HSC/Diploma must be written.
1.8.Total Marks as well as Obtained Marks in SSC must be typed as it appears on SSC Mark
Sheet.
6.HSC Examination Marks

1.1.Various subject codes, subjects, subject total marks, subject marks obtained must be typed
carefully. Students to select Theory or Practical for each Subject.
1.2.Details of Practicals, if any, must also be typed in.
1.3.Students passing through GHSEB will be able to select Subject from a drop down list. Click
on 'Add' button every time a subject is selected and total marks as well as marks obtained is typed in. This will make details appear in a table. Total marks in HSC, Marks Obtained in HSC and HSC
%age will also appear at end of table.1.4.Students of other board will not see list of subjects in drop down list. They need to carefully
type in subject code, subject, subject total marks, subject marks obtained, Theory or Practical and
then click on 'Add' button.1.5.Please verify Total marks in HSC, Marks Obtained in HSC and HSC %age appearing at end
of table with that given in HSC mark sheet.

6.6 Please also verify Total Practical marks in HSC, Marks Obtained in Practicals and %age
appearing at end of table.6.7 Please enter Total marks in SSC, Marks Obtained in SSC, SSC Exam Month and Year given
in SSC mark sheet.
6.8 At this stage, Students are advised to carefully read and verify all the information typed in so
far. Once all information is correctly verified, click on 'Continue' button. It will ask to verify all the
details once again. By clicking on the OK Following screen will appear.

7.College Choices
1.1.Students must very carefully fill up college choices.
1.2.On right hand side of screen, a list of colleges will appear in three segments. These
segments are (1) B. Sc. Science, (2) B. Sc. Microbiology (3) M.Sc. Biotechnology1.3.Of these, click on 'Add' button given against the college of first choice. This will make
the name of college appear in left hand side of screen under a table 'Choice of Colleges'.1.4.Similarly, click on 'Add' button given against the college of second, third, fourth choices
and so on.1.5.Every time name of college will be added in left hand side of screen under 'Choice of
Colleges' table as per student's preferences. Please note that students are free to select any college from any of the three segments in order of preference. 1.6.Students must select at least one and maximum of all colleges from all three segments.
1.7.Students can also delete or change order of preference by clicking on 'Delete' or 'Up' /
'Down' button.
1.1.All the characters appearing in image box must be typed in as is. Please note that this
field is case sensitive.1.2.Click 'Submit the Admission Form' button. This will generate, in a separate window,
On-Line Form Submission Receipt in PDF format. Please ensure that Pop-Up Blocker is OFF in your browser settings.

1.1.This PDF file contains two copies of On-Line Form Submission Receipt. Please print,
sign both copies and submit to any College along with required documents like self-attested photocopies of School Leaving Certificate, all mark sheets of SSC as well as HSC, other required certificates etc.1.2.College will verify the details given in On-Line Form Submission Receipt with
documents. Once verified, College will stamp & sign second copy of Acknowledgement and
hand over to student. Students must retain this copy till end of admission process.
8.Acknowledgement Re-Print
1.1.Students can view and re-print the On-Line Form Submission Receipt anytime.
'Acknowledgement Re-Print' option will appear only after login to web-site by providing User Name / Form Number & Password.1.2.Details of the form cannot be changed once College has verified the form.

9.List of Online Submitted Forms/Merit Details
1.1.Students can view 'Check Details' option under Student's Zone Menu after login on
scheduled day.
1.2.Students must carefully verify their details. In case any error is noticed, students to visit
Department at VNSGU along with stamped copy of acknowledgement issued by College and relevant proof.1.3.Final merit list shall be published on scheduled date. Once final merit list is published, no
changes shall be entertained in any circumstances.1.4.After Final Merit List will be processed, students can view 'Check Merit' option under
Student's Zone Menu after login on scheduled day.

10.Mock Admission Round
This mock round is carried out to help students familiarise with actual admission rounds.
1.1.Results of Mock Admission Round shall be published on web-site on scheduled date.
1.2.Students to login to web-site by providing User Name / Form
Number & Password.
1.3.By clicking on 'Mock Admission Details' option appearing under 'Student Zone' menu
option, students can view mock admission details like program, medium, college, and
corresponding preference number etc.
1.4.Students can make final changes of their choices as per procedure given in section 7 of this
information sheet. Even those students who have not been granted admission in this round can
make changes in their choices.
1.5.At end of mock admission round, in case students do not make any changes in choices, the
choices given earlier shall be considered for first admission round.

11.Admission Round
1.1.Results of First Admission Round shall be published on web-site on scheduled date.
1.2.Students to login to web-site by providing User Name / Form
Number & Password.1.3.By clicking on 'Provisional Admission Letter' option appearing under 'Student Zone' menu
option, students can view their admission details like program, college and corresponding preference etc. Screen similar to given below will be displayed.1.4.Here students will have a choice to participate in next round of admission process by asking to
confirm 'Do You Want to Go for Next Round?'
1.5.Students will have to compulsorily answer 'Yes' or 'No' to this question and then need to click
on 'Print Provisional Admission Letter' button. Once clicked, provisional admission letter will open in
another window in PDF format. Ensure Pop-Up Blocker is turned OFF in your browser settings. PDF contains three copies of this letter. Print all three copies, take it to nearest Union Bank of India branch
and deposit admission fee mentioned in the letter. Ensure bank provides token number as well as
acknowledgement on two copies of provisional admission letter. Sign these two copies and submit to
any College to confirm your admission. College will acknowledge one of the copy and hand it over to you. Second copy shall be retained by College.

1.1.1.Only those students who have answered 'Yes', deposited the fees in the bank and confirmed
their admission in College are eligible for participating in next round of admission.
1.1.2.Those students who have answered 'Yes' but did not deposit the fees in the bank or did not
visit College to confirm their admission shall automatically be OUT of entire admission process for
this academic year.
1.1.3.Those students, who have answered 'No', deposited the fees in the bank and confirmed
their admission by visiting College, shall be granted admission in the allotted college. They shall not
be eligible for participating in any further round of admission process. In case such students wish to
participate in further admission rounds, they must visit Department for further guidance.
1.1.4.Those students, who have answered 'No', did not deposit the fees in the bank or did not
confirm their admission by visiting College shall automatically be OUT of entire admission process
for this academic year. Such students will not be able to again enter into admission process under
any circumstances.
1.1.5.Those students who have answered 'Yes', deposited the fees in the bank and confirmed
their admission in College shall, on scheduled date, be able to Login to web-site and then change
their college choices using 'College Choices' option from 'Student Zone' menu option as per
procedure given in section 14.6 of this information sheet.
1.1.6.Any admission granted in subsequent admission round shall automatically nullify any
admission granted in previous rounds. Students shall have no rights whatsoever to claim the seat /
admission granted in any of the previous rounds.
1.1.7.Students to print 'Provisional Admission Letter' at end of every admission rounds, deposit
the balance fees (if any) in bank, obtain token number as well as acknowledgement and confirm
admission by visiting College.
1.1.8.Even those students who have not been granted admission in this round can make changes
in their choices.
1.1.9.Students are advised to answer 'Yes' in all admission rounds till admission is granted in
college of his / her choice.
1.1.10.When admission is granted in college of choice, can answer 'No', deposited the fees
in the bank and confirm their admission by visiting College.
1.1.11.Every student must visit web-site periodically for periodic updates and news.

THE MENACE
OF
RAGGING IN HIGHER
EDUCATIONAL

!Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offence as
established by the Anti
!Ragging Committee of the institution, the possible
punishments for those found
!guilty of ragging at the institution level shall be any one
or any combination of the following:
!Cancellation of admission
!Suspension from attending classes
!Withholding/ withdrawing scholarship/ fellowship and
other benefits
!Debarring from appearing in any test/ examination or
other evaluation process
!Withholding results
!Debarring from representing the institution in any
regional, national or international meet, tournament,
youth festival, etc.
!Suspension/ expulsion from the hostel
!Rustication from the institution for period ranging from
1 to 4 semesters
!Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring
from admission to any other institution
!Fine of Rupees 25,000/-
!Collective punishment: When the persons committing or
abetting the crime of ragging are not identified, the
institution shall resort to collective punishment as a
deterrent to ensure community pressure on the potential
raggers.

Punishments:
"Ragging" means any disorderly conduct whether by words
spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of
teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other
student, indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which
causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or
psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof
in a fresher or a junior student or asking the students to do
any act or perform something which such student will not in
the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or
generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to
adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a
junior student.
