How to use PhoneGap to build an Android App

1.

Go to
https://build.phonegap.com/

and Register. It makes sense if you have a
GitHub account first as it will allow you to sign in using that account

2.

Create a simple H
TML5 page. Use
http://jquerymobile.com

to get a nice
consistent layout. You can create as many HTML5 pages as you need, and
also add your own JavaScript.

3.

Once you are happy with your HTML pages, compress them into

a zip file. In
my example, I call the zip file phonegaptest.zip

4.

Sign into PhoneGap. You will see a screen that looks something like this…

5.

Click the blue “+ new app” button in the top right

6.

You will see this screen:

7.

Here you have a choice: paste

a git repo, or, upload a zip file. I am going to
“Upload a .zip file” so click that button

8.

Select the zip file… and click “Open”

9.

You will see the “Uploading” bar…

10.

When the Upload is finished, you will see this “PG Build App” text appear…

11.

Thi
s is where you put the finishing touches on your app

give it a proper
name, and enter a description. When you are happy, click the “Ready to
build” button. Wait about 1
-
2 minutes.

12.

On your Android device, download an app called “Barcode Scanner”.

13.

Scan

in the barcode for the app you just built… it will download to your
phone, and you can then install and run it.
