he main objective of the project is to determine the characteristics strength
of bamboo splint and to suggest its suitability as a reinforcement materials in
concrete slab subjected to concentrated load.
e Bamboo material was randomly selected from pipeline road Ilorin,
Kwara state. Both Physical and mechanical properties were carried out on
the specimen shape according to ASTM (American Society for Testing and
Materials). Also, three concrete slabs were c
asted, Slab001 with minimum
bamboo reinforcement spacing, slab002 with the maximum spacing and
(slab003) unreinforced slab for the control. These slabs were subjected to
varying concentrated loads to determine their flexural strengths.

amboo posses a significantly lower strength in
compression than in tension. The slab001 with minimum reinforcement
spacing posses a significantly higher flexural strength when subjected to
