Project Summary:

Self compacting concrete (SCC) started to be produced after 19
88

in Japan. Today many countries are
producing this concrete and it
known
that
SCC has many advantages compared to conventional
concrete. On the other hand it is very well known that concrete is very weak in tension and impact. In
order to minimise these weak points of concrete fiber
s

are added in concrete. By this way tensile and
im
pact (toughness) of plain concrete can be increased significantly. Altghough fiber reinforced
concrete
(FRC)
is being produced in Cyprus, SCC is a new product for construction industry.
Therefore
combination of SCC & FRC would bring many benefits. This pro
ject will be split into 3 parts. First part will
be based on design of FRC and second part will be based on designing SCC. The last part will be based on
combination of SCC and FRC with optimum proportions. Produced SC
