nition of patterns is a cognitive task that is easy for human beings but is extremely difficult to
embed into computing systems. Pattern Recognition theory is vast and currently advances in
Machine Learning have brought new insights. The applications of Pa
ttern Recognition are wide
ranging, however Image Processing is one such area, which spreads across Industry Applications
such as Biometrics, Medical Image Processing, Satellite Geospatial data processing, Document
Image Processing, Optical Character Reco
gnition etc,. Computer Vision focuses on Human
Computer Interaction, Camera Sensors and Intelligence


A Refresher Course is organized for two weeks during Jan. 23rd

Science, Dr G R Damodaran College of Science, Coimbatore
. The Resource Persons are experienced
academicians and researchers in the field of Image Processing / Computer Vision / Pattern
Recognition. Both Theoretical and Laboratory Sessions will be taken up during the Course.


The Eligibility for attending the c
ourse:

Motivated individuals from reputed academic organizations/research institutes, interested in the
course themes, can participate. Participants can be from any of the three types:

(i)

Faculty members teaching UG/PG courses with min. two years experience

(ii)

Research Scholars working full

time/part
-
time.

(iii)

Post Graduate Students with specialization in Image Processing/Computer Vision/Pattern
Recognition


There is no Registration Fee.

(i) TA to all participants including minor incidental expenses (3 tier AC far
e) will be paid on
producing travel documents (up to Rs.3500/

per head). (ii) Accommodation will be arranged by the
Host Institution Coordinator (iii) Lunch, Tea and Coffee will be provided during the Course. The
participants are expected to arrive at th
e Host Institution a day prior (22

commencement.
