Task 1. Search for a specific person and add this person to your Salesforce leads or contacts within an account

Hoover’s Admin – Tells you more about the Hoover’s data integration product and

includes customization functionality for Salesforce administrators

Hoover’s Search – Allows you to search for companies and people in Hoover’s database

Hoover’s Build A List – Allows you to build a list from the Hoover’s database
The first time you attempt to click on any of the Hoover’s tabs within Salesforce, you will be prompted to log in
with your Hoover’s username and password. After you have logged in, Hoover’s will associate your Salesforce
username and password with your Hoover’s username and password, so you should not have to enter your
Hoover’s ID again when using Access Hoover’s.
There are three tabs available to you with your Access Hoover’s subscription:
Task 1. Search for a specific person in the Hoover’s database
Note: Within the Hoover’s Search tab, you will have access to all companies and people within your selected Global
Region(s) - up to 21 million companies and 28 million people.
Scenario: You receive business cards from trade shows, conferences or referrals that could be potential sales
leads. You want to see if these people are located in the Hoover’s database, what companies they are associated
with and any additional information that is available on that person.

From the drop down menu on the right, click on Recently Created
You can now view the newly created lead from Hoover’s. If you had added the person as a contact within
an account, you could view that person in the contacts section of the related account.

Task 2. Search for people associated with a specific company

in the Hoover’s database
Note: Within the Hoover’s Search tab, you will have access to all companies and people within your selected Global
Region(s) - up to 21 million companies and 28 million people.
Step 1:
Click on tab

Enter the Company
Name


(For this example, we are using Apple)
Step 3:
Click the button


Here is the Company Search Results
Page and the results for a company
search of Apple. The results are
ranked by the most likely match and
you can filter the results by a variety
of criteria on the left like location,
sales, employees, company type, and
location type.

All the people associated with the Apple Computer, Inc. record within the Hoover’s database will be
displayed, along with information on the company. This screen will indicate people that may already
exist in your Salesforce database as leads or contacts. They are highlighted for your review.
Step 4:
Review the results and click on the link of the company that you’re looking for

(In this example, we’re looking for Apple Computer, Inc.)
Step 5:
Check the names that you’d like to download into Salesforce
Step 6:
Click the button or the button
You can view these recently created people in your Leads tab or in your Contacts tab.

For this example, let’s look at our account for National Instruments. You want to look for additional
contacts for this account from this record in the Hoover’s database.
Subtask 3a. Add one or all people associated with a Hoover’s

company record as contacts within an account
Step 1:
Click on link titled “Add Contacts from Hoover’s”
Step 2:

Choose the right company and click on the company name link. If a DUNS numbe
r
was populated on the account record, you would automatically be presented with the
unique Hoover’s company record that you’re interested in.

To see the new contacts, click on the tab, and then choose Recently Created contacts.

Let’s look at how you can view More Hoover’s Information and Tools for your account,
Whole Foods. Note: You will only have access to tools that are available with your Hoover’s
subscription level.
Subtask 3b. View More Hoover’s Information and Tools for a

particular account or lead
Step 1:
Click on the link titled “More Hoover’s Information and Tools”

Note: A DUNS number must be populated in the account or lead record in order for you to
successfully utilize the link“More Hoover’s Information and Tools.” You can easily import
DUNS numbers into your accounts and leads by using the “Update Account from Hoover’s” or
“Update Lead from Hoover’s” links (see subtask 3c below).

Using the National Instruments Corporation example, we will review how you can update your
account or lead information with data from Hoover’s.
Subtask 3c. Update an account or lead with company information from

Hoover’s
Step 1:
Click on the link “Update Account from Hoover’s” ” (or if you are working from a

Lead, click on “Update Lead From Hoover’s”)
Note: If the DUNS number is present on an account or lead record (as shown above), and you click the
link “Update Account (or Lead) from Hoover’s,” you will receive the unique record you’re looking for,
bypassing the need for you to select the record from a list of most likely matches. If this is the case, in
this example you would bypass Step 2 and go directly to Step 3.

Access Hoover’s User’s Guide
From the below screen, you are given control over which account fields you want to update from
Hoover’s into your existing National Instruments account. You are provided with a summary
of the differences between your current account data in Salesforce and the account data that
exists within the Hoover’s database for this company record. The differences are highlighted in
yellow. This functionality is the same when updating a lead from Hoover’s.
Note: Differences are based on items not being “exact” matches. This includes differences such as
additional commas displayed, etc.

Note: Your Hoover’s subscription level will determine the number of downloadable people and companies
you have access to for list building within Salesforce (no more, no less than within your Hoover’s
subscription). Pro subscribers will not have access to Build A List within Salesforce.
Task 4. Build and import lists from the Hoover’s database

within Salesforce

Benefit of Access Hoover’s
The integration of
Hoover’s data into
Salesforce will enable you to generate revenue through time-
saving efficiencies. As you’ve seen, you’ll be able to customize and control the data you import into
Salesforce, prospect for new targets within
Hoover’s robust database of up to 21 million businesses,
and easily update your leads and accounts with up-to-date business insight.
Step 5:

If desired, click to change your Build A List criteria
Note: Users will be limited to a list size of 500 records for any one download. If you exceed the
download limit you will be prompted with an “edit” link to revise your search criteria.
Step 6:

If desired, click to add this list of people to your Salesforce leads
Note: People that appear to be duplicates (exact match) will not be added to your database.
Once imported from the Hoover’s database, a list is immediately viewable in your Salesforce Leads
tab. When you build a list of companies (accounts), the results will be immediately viewable in your
Salesforce Accounts tab.
