same issues.
Ink Density
The easiest way to determine ink film density is to measure its reflection density with a
Densitometer. A densitometer assigns a numerical value for density or (Strength)
The higher the numerical value, denser or (stronger) your color.
Below is a chart for the most common ink densities for process printing.

Solventless Lamination
Product Code: SL (Destructible Bonds)
As Government regulations on Solvent
-
based printing
inks, coatings, and adhesives grow more and more
stringent; the pressure to create an
adhesive/ink
combination that could create destructible bonds
without the use of harsh solvents was rising. A typical
Dry
-
bond lamination process uses a thin layer of
adhesive applied to the substrate, than heat/air dried
and pressed to another laminating
substrate. With Solventless Lamination the process uses
a heated nip after being mated to the laminating substrate to create the necessary bond.
In order to create destructible bonds using a Solventless Lamination process the
compatibility between the Ink
system and the adhesive is crucial. Without the proper
combination a converter may find Tunneling shortly after the final product is completed.
Tunneling: Localized de
-
lamination (separation) of the laminate and the printed substrate.
Interactive Inks S
olventless Lamination system of printing ink (SL) was created in order to
achieve the bond strengths necessary for destructible bonds between the printed substrate,
ink film, adhesive film, and laminate without tunneling. With this self cross

based adhesive/inks lamination can rival the heat resistant’s and bond strengths of
those created by a solvent

based system.
The chemistry built into our (SL) system will work in tandem with adhesives designed for
Solventless lamination allowing
for the proper bonds to occur.
