Air Cooled

Bore x Stroke: 63.5 x 62.2mm

Displacement: 197.0 ml

Power 12.0KW/8000rpm

Torque: 14.5N.m/6500rpm

Electric & Kick Start

Engine Measurements: 19.6" x
15.7" x 13.8"

Clutch

Clutch:

Transmits power from the engine to
the transmission.

Chains, Belt, Shaft, Gears

You can increase/decrease acceleration and
top speed by adjusting gear ratios.

Battery

12 Volts

Grounding

Battery Box

Battery:

Provides electrical power for starting
and accessories

Starting

Ignition Switch
: Allows solenoid to transmit power to
starter.

Starter Solenoid
: heavy duty switch that sends batter
voltage to starter.

Starter
: Throughout gear turns engine flywheel over.

Coil, Wires, Plugs

Coil:

Turns low voltage into high voltage for
spark plugs.

Wires:

Carries voltage, can short out if not
properly ran.

Plugs:

Completes ignition cycle, ignites fuel
in the combustion chamber

Capacitor Discharged Ignition

(CDI Box)

Stores and controls
electric spark

Prevents fouling of the
spark plug(s).

Rectifiers & Voltage
Regulators

Rectifier:

changes A/C to
pulsating D/C.

Regulator:

prevents
over
-
charging of the
battery.

Suspension

Seat

Shocks:

smoothes out the ride

Rear suspension is uncommon in choppers

Steering

Forks/Rake

Rims & Tires

Handlebars

Brake and throttle mechanism

Forks & Rakes

Rims & Tires

Handlebars, cables, levers

Throttle:

twist

Clutch:

engages drive train,

disengage when shifting

Fuel System

Gas Tank:

Stores fuel for later use

Fuel line:

transports fuel

Petcock:

shut
-
off valve at the bottom of the fuel tank

Fuel Filter:

Stripes unwanted debris from fuel before entering
carburetor

Concept Sketch Assignment

By Definition

The purpose of a concept sketch is to outline a specific design
and indicate how the design problem is to be solved.

They are called “concept” sketches because the drawing should
convey ideas about how to solve the problem, but they do not
involve the level of detail or thought that goes into final
(production) drawings.

They are “sketches” because mechanical engineers build
physical devices and pictures are better at capturing information
than words.

Nobody wants to figure out a device by reading a lengthy
description; they want to look at a drawing.

Concept sketches are used at the beginning of the design
process to quickly explore different ideas and to narrow down
the search for a workable solution.

The ideal concept sketch contains no words.

Simply by looking at it, the reader should understand everything
about the design problem and how the concept solves the
problem.
