Members of the IQAC assessed the progress and development made by the
college during the past one year keeping in mind the needs of the students, the
infrastructure and resources available and to improve the quality of education,
projections for

the next year were decided upon, which are as follows:

For the upgradation of teaching techniques a new LCD projector has
been purchased.

unit and placement cell did a commendable job by arranging lectures
and seminars for students and helping the students in placement drive at

various levels.




Computer literacy and computerization of all office records related to
students, staff and others was satisfactory and the process

Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution:

The goals and objectives of Dev Samaj Institutions are very clear. The first
and foremost objective of Dev Samaj Insti
tution is to produce equal
opportunities for women in education, work and service. The best way to do
this is to empower them through education. Along with the specialized
education, Dev Samaj intends to provide holistic and value
-
oriented education,

hich would turn out such complete human beings as would always strive for
the absolute good of mankind. Along with the curricula prescribed by P.U. for
dissemination of knowledge, general assembly is held regularly in the college
and various functions lik

are observed to imbibe in the students the significance of relationships both in
the family and at the workplace. Sensitizing the students towards social
problems and turning them out to be responsible and

Club, Environment Club, N.S.S. and Rotaract Club are a regular feature of the
college.

courses is prescribed by P.U. As such, this is not possible at the college level.

The college has set up a Digital Language Lab. English Language
software for ‘Clarity’ on ‘Issues in English’ and ‘Tense Buster’ has been

exercise to students to overcome their difficulties in their areas. The
students can practice correct English pronunciation by recording their

room in the college and all types of essential medicines
are readily available for first aid treatment with the in

Dr. Vandana M.D. private practitioner, who has her clinic with in a
distance of about 2 kms. from college visits the college hostel once a week
and if any hosteller required any health services other than this, she attends

he patients in her clinic without charging any fee. In case of emergency,
girls are taken to Govt. Medical Hospital which is just 2 kms. away from
the college.

Activities of the guidance and counseling unit:


Placements




1.

The

placement cell of the college became active in June i.e. during
the summer vacations. JCBL visited the college with a proposal to
recruit accounts students on 11
th

June 2009 for a project and for
permanent jobs also.

campus recruitment on 9

August 2009. Four students of BCA and
B.A. (IT) streams were selected for placements in various companies
and 8 students were selected for placement after taining.

A team from IBM DAKSH visited the college on

21.11.2009 for
campus recruitments. 28 students from BCA, B.Com and B.A.
participated in the recruitment drive which was held in 3 rounds.
Five students were selected by IBM and expression of interest letters
were given to them. IBM again visited Chandig
arh at NIIT, Sec. 32
for post placement. Two more students of the college got selected
there.

4.

MIE Educational Services Pvt. Ltd. visited the college to conduct
campus placements on behalf of HDFSCL Sales Development
Managers. Information regarding selecti
on is awaited.

Six BCA students were selected by NIIT for jobs related to the
technical side.

briefing them about scholarship tests and careers. NIIT official also
visited the college on 9

Zee Institute of Creative Arts, Chandigarh conducted a Students’
awareness programme on animation, in which they talked about two

Students were also apprised of career opportunities in the field of
animation.

Department of Computer Applications organized a seminar on 29

was organized in the college. Winners of the quiz were offered
scholarships for summer courses by the ITFT education group.

Rotaractors participated in the campaign for Global Road Safety

NGO. They also took part in inter college competitions organized by
Yuvsatta to mark the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi.

The Theatre Club of the college organized a 10 day workshop of Acting

‘ragas’ and ‘thumri’ from Mr. Suneel Chatterjee, a renowned vocalist, in
the ‘Swarlehri’ programme organized by the Music club of the college.

y of the college the students learnt how to classify

The students as well as the staff gained knowledge about the prevention

Political Socialization


Elections to the Students Council of the college are held every year
according to the schedule announced by Pa
njab University. The whole
process sensitizes our students regarding the value of their vote, inculcating
in them a sense of responsibility.

Sports


Physical growth and well being are an important dimension of development

Following are the proposals made for the development and progress of the
college :

1.

For the beautification of the college campus a proposal has been drawn
up. For which experts will be invited for the landscapi
ng of the college
campus and additional benches installed in the lawns to create more
sitting place for the students.


2.

A new Gymnasium with the latest equipment

will be installed.


3.

Indoor games will be added for the recreation of the hostel students
.


4.

A herbal garden will be developed in the college campus.


5.

A waste management / garbage management plant will be setup in the
college campus.

and furnished

proposal is also to provide a comp
