In 2010 Dimension Data required professional services for their customer
Port of Brisbane. Port of Brisbane Corporation had built a new head office
which required a LAN design for voice, data and wireless network as a
greenfield site. The requirement also included the migration of the primary
production data centre to the new DC located in the new head office.
Port of Brisbane is responsible for the operation and management of
Australia’s third busiest container port. Port of Brisbane provides critical
communication to the port and container ships for cargo.
The solution provided a professional service engagement for solutions
architect to deliver a high level design and detailed design for the LAN
network. This engagement included the configuration for new CPE
equipment and deployment of LAN switching and wireless connectivity
throughout the new building.
This engagement also assisted the Port of Brisbane on the migration of the
data centre including WAN and LAN connectivity. Port of Brisbane
successfully migrated their data centre and re-located into the head office
This solution enabled Port of Brisbane to seamlessly relocate to the new
head office and successfully continue business as usual.
The new LAN network enabled high performance LAN switching with
virtual networks including wireless access points deployed throughout the
building to enable staff to utilise wireless devices in the new office
