effective through pragmatic and innovative uses of Internet, GIS, and database technologies.

Program Description, Cost and Length
Introduction to ArcGIS I – Leads to certificate. This two-day course introduces students to ArcGIS and provides the foundation for
becoming a successful ArcView, ArcEditor, or ArcInfo user. Participants learn how to use ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolbox and
explore how these applications work together to provide a complete GIS software solution. The course covers fundamental GIS
concepts as well as how to create, edit, and work with georeferenced spatial data. Attendees learn how to manipulate tabular data,
query a GIS database, and present data clearly and efficiently using maps and charts.
Cost: $800
Length: 16 hours

Introduction to ArcGIS II – Leads to certificate. This new three-day course follows Introduction to ArcGIS I (for ArcView 8,
ArcEditor 8, and ArcInfo 8) and continues to present important concepts and functionality for successfully working with ArcGIS.
With further exploration of ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolbox, students focus on spatial analysis, data automation of spatial and
attribute data, editing, and advanced options for cartographic display and reports. Hands-on exercises teach ArcGIS procedures in the
context of solving real-world problems. Examples and exercises use data from a variety of application areas. A portion of the class is
reserved for carrying out an analysis project and applying many of the new skills and techniques learned in this course. Students
conduct queries, perform spatial analysis, and present their results in a hard-copy map and report. This course is for those who have
completed Introduction to ArcGIS I (for ArcView 8, ArcEditor 8, and ArcInfo 8) or Migrating from ArcView 3.x to ArcView 8
(instructor-led or Web-based course). If one of the prerequisite courses is not completed, a student should have comparable
experience with ArcGIS before taking this course
Cost: $1,200
Length: 24 hours

Programming Arc Objects with VBA – Leads to certificate. In this five-day course students learn the fundamentals of VBA
application development, Object-oriented programming concepts, and the specifics of working with ArcObjects. Participants learn to
use VBA development tools including VB editor, customize dialog box, and online help resources. They also learn the syntax for
writing simple VB statements, how to write branching and looping structures, and how to design user forms. Object-oriented
programming concepts are described including the advantages of COM in which all ArcObjects classes are based. Interface
programming, which may be new to seasoned programmers, is an important aspect of programming with the ArcObjects library and is
covered in detail. ArcGIS Desktop software programs (ArcView 8, ArcEditor 8, and ArcInfo 8) share the same architecture, and the
knowledge gained in this course applies to all three. Class time is mostly spent doing hands-on programming exercises, where
students write code that exposes them to many typical GIS programming tasks as well as to the most commonly used ArcObjects
classes. On the last afternoon of the course, participants will have time to work on more advanced programming exercises or to
explore ArcObjects on their own. Upon finishing the course, students will have plenty of sample code from which they can build their
own applications.
Cost: $2,000
Length: 40 hours

Fast Track to ColdFusion – Leads to certificate. Fast Track to ColdFusion MX is a 3-day course that provides experienced Web
developers with the knowledge and hands-on practice they need to start building and maintaining dynamic and interactive Web
applications using ColdFusion. Upon completion of this course, you should be able to: set up and manage the ColdFusion MX
development environment; use ColdFusion Markup Language (CFML); connect to a database; build queries that retrieve, insert, and
update data dynamically; perform client-side and server-side validation; authenticate users and secure access to pages; use local,
query, form, and URL variables; re-use code; incorporate custom tags, user defined functions, and ColdFusion components into your
application; create a search form; build a data drill-down interface; develop fully interactive, database-driven web applications.

Advanced ColdFusion Development – Leads to certificate. Advanced ColdFusion Development is a 3-day course that provides
experienced ColdFusion application developers with the advanced knowledge and hands-on practice they need to build robust and
scalable Web applications. Upon completion of this course, you should be able to: understand, create and manipulate the complex
data types array, query and structure within an application; index and search both documents and database content using the Verity
search engine; review the benefits of custom tags, and, how to create and utilize them in an application; understand the benefits of
user-defined functions, and, how to create and utilize them in an application; build structured exception handling within an
application; syndicate web content using the and tags.
