Connecting to The Henley College Wireless Network for students


Windows Vista


Find the network icon on the system tray, and click on it.



Once you have clicked onto the network icon, the following box will appear, Click on “Network and
Sharing Center”




In Network and Sharing Center, find and select “Set up a new connection or network” from the left hand
side menu.

Enter the following settings and

Network name: thcstudent

Security Type: WPA2

Enterprise

Encryption Type: AES








Select

Change connection settings

The following window pops
up, Unselect “Connect to a more preferred network if available”

then click
on the Security tab at the top of this dialog box.






After clicking the Security tab, you should see the following window,
ensure that the network
authentication method is set
to “
Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP)


and
“Cache User information for
subsequent connections to this network” is un
-
ticked and then
click on the

Settings
...”

button
.




Ensure that “Validate server certificate” is not ticked and under Select Authentication Method “Secured
password (EAP
-
MSCHAP v2)” is selected. Click configure.




Ensure that “Automatically use my Windows logon name and password” is un
-
ticked.



Click “Ok” on the three windows and the following message will pop up from the network icon. Click on
this.



Click on “Enter/select additional log on information”.




Enter your college user, password and HENLEYCOL as the logon domain.









Once you have clicked ok, you should connect to the college wireless.




Open up Internet Explorer, click on Tools, scroll down to Internet Options, click on the Connections tab,
click on LAN settings and tick “Automatically detect settings”.


Tick “Use
a proxy server for your LAN” and put in the following details:

Address:

172.16.0.213

Port:


8080

(this setting will need to be removed when you connect to the Internet at home)




Refresh Internet Explorer and you should be able to access the thcstudent

network.
