Job Description


Manage, design, implement, maintain & operate the major systems software components
used by the Department. Primary focus is IBM’s Websphere Appli
cation Server and related
middleware.

Job Notes


The position holder is required to be “on call” and work outside of standard hours. Both will
be managed in accordance with Public Service employment conditions. The position holder
is required to travel to

and undertake work at any of the Department’s sites. Applicants must

Selection Criteria

Significant, demonstrable technical knowledge and experience of Websphere suite of products, primarily WAS and
MQ as well as J2EE in general;

Demonstrated ability to develop, maintain and

support Websphere Application Server & other J2EE systems including
design, installation, operational monitoring & support of systems including availability, performance monitoring,
integrity & security;

Good technical knowledge & experience in at least
one of the other major systems software technologies employed
by the Department, e.g. Lotus Domino, Business Objects and IBM Portal;

Well developed communication, negotiation and report writing skills;

Ability to work independently and as part of a team
in creating, administering and supporting ICT facilities.
