Systems
The goal of this special issue is to gather recent research contributions related to network routing and
communication algorithm for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
More specifically, this special issue aims at fostering innovative research on Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and
Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communications for ITS specific applications.
For submission, we would like to encourage not only results and insights obtained from simulations and
theoretical analysis but also those obtained from implementations.
The development of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) brings the promise of improved road safety and
traffic efficiency while providing comfortable/infotainment driving environments. Recent advances of
wireless vehicular communications supporting Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure
(V2I) communications have become a cornerstone of ITS. Wireless vehicular communications for ITS is
one of the most interesting and active research topics, which is requiring vital efforts from both the industry
and the academic. In particular, studies on network routing and communication algorithm for V2V and
V2I have posed various challenges, while most of related standards in ETSI and ISO have been adopting
non-IP routing and communication algorithms. In other words, simple and basic solutions for V2V and V2I
have been adopted so far. This special issue is intended to introduce advanced non-IP and IP routing and
communication algorithms on various aspects related to ITS and to highlight the state-of-art research on ITS.
Topics of interest for the special issue include:

7 Alert, safety, and infotainment communication algorithms for ITS
7 Bandwidth allocation and resource schedulers for ITS

Before submission authors should carefully read over the Instructions for Authors, which are located at
jwcn.eurasipjournals.com/authors/instructions. Prospective authors are invited to submit an electronic
copy of their complete manuscript through the SpringerOpen submission system at jwcn.eurasipjournals.
com/manuscript according to the submission schedule. They should choose the correct Special Issue in
the “sections” box upon submitting. In addition, they should specify the manuscript as a submission to the
“Special Issue on Network Routing and Communication Algorithm for Intelligent Transportation Systems”
in the cover letter. All submissions will undergo initial screening by the Guest Editors for fit to the theme of
the Special Issue and prospects for successfully negotiating the review process.
In addition to open submissions, authors of selected papers from the 13th International Conference on ITS
Telecommunications (ITST 2013, http://www.itst2013.org/) will be invited to submit extended versions of
their papers to this special issue for consideration.
