University of
Maryland

where the PI plans to move to in the Fall of 2010.

Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology

University of Maryland

College Park, MD, USA

Date of Po
sting: June 2010

An NIH
-
funded postdoctoral fellowship (
2 years
) is available in the computational biology
group of Hannenhalli

at the University

of Maryland, College Park campus
. The research
project
broadly
aims to understand the
eukaryotic transcripti
onal regulation and in particular
the evolution of transcriptional regulation through expansion and functional divergence of
gene families.

Areas

of interest in the
Hannenhalli group include
combinatorial and statistical
methods development for investigati
ng combinatorial gene regulation and the evolution of
gene regulation. In addition a number of clinically relevant collaborative applications are in
place.

the lab.

Req
uirements for the position include: a proven record of self
-
motivated research; a PhD in
computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics, biology or relat
ed area; excellent
quantitative, programming, and statistical
skills.
The candidate
should have exp
erience with
analyzing
biological
data
, in particular, pertaining to gene transcription
.

Experience with the
analysis of molecular evolution is a big plus.

The fellowship provides a competitive annual stipend plus benefits and health insurance.
