These courses are already included in the curricula. What we suggest
as course development can be done by staff members from AIET with

collaboration with corresponding staff members of partner institutes.

Improving Laboratory facilities is needed in this area, AIET facilities are
very little, compared to laboratory facilities of AIET in other a
reas. a

English language is included in the curricula of AIET. Two English
language courses are taught in addition to a course on technical report

ABOUT AIET:

Alexandria Higher Institute of Engineering &Technology (AIET) is a private,
state recognized Institute. AIET offers the Bachelor of Science Degree
(B.Sc.)
in four Engineering areas: Electronics and Communications,
Mechatron
ics and Industrial Engineering. The first three degrees have
already been approved by the Supreme Council of Universities to be
equivalent to those offered by the Egyptian Government Universities in the
same fields. The B.Sc. programme extends over 5 acade
mic years.

The study in the Institute started in 1997/98 academic year. The Institute
has celebrated the first graduating classes in Electronics and
Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering and Mechatronics
Engineering in 2002, 2003 and 2004, respe
ctively. The first graduates in
industrial Engineering will be in 2011. AIET graduates have the privilege to
enrol in post graduate studies in Egyptian Government Universities and
also to join the Egyptian Engineering Syndicate.

Continuing Education Dep
artment: AIET has a continuing education
department. It aims at linking the Institute and community by offering
courses that aim to serve the needs of commerce, industry, and local
business community. Quality assurance: AIET has a quality assurance unit
an
d a committee.

AIET is known by the competence of its graduates, its strong programmes
and interdisciplinary orientation.

Students industrial Training

AIET is well aware of the importance of creating links between education
and industry, and there is a tr
aining program for its students every summer
with the local, national or abroad industry. Industrial training is a graduation
requirement of our graduates. Each summer about 300 AIET students
receive their industrial training through agreements with more

than 20
industrial institutions.

MAIN AIM AND MOTIVATION OF THE PRESENT PROJECT:



The main objective of the present project is to build the capacity of
AIET in the area of Renewable Energy.



Egypt is the only place in the world where solar, wind and bio
-
en
ergy potentials are available at a high quality. There are already
4 operating projects in Egypt in wind energy in addition to a solar
-
thermal project. Proposals for the large scale use of solar energy in
Egypt are ongoing with EU countries (specially E
U Mediterranean
countries).



Therefore, by raising the skills of AIET graduates, there is a good
opportunity for employability of AIET graduates in this area should
they get basic knowledge and professional training in the area of
renewable energy. This c
an be achieved, primarily by developing
and modifying the course contents and providing laboratory facilities
as suggested above.
