onal Systems are gradually incorporating Semantic Web technology. The
general purpose is to make the Web more understandable by machines and then
generate educational systems that are more adaptable and intelligent.

Motivated by this movement, WSWEd'07 wa
s created to be the first workshop on
Semantic Web and Education. Now, the second edition of the Workshop will be held in
Fortaleza, Brazil in

conjunction with
XIX Brazilian Symposium on Informa
tics and

(WSWEd'08@SBIE'08). It focuses on areas of the Brazilian Symposium of
Informatics and Education through the use of Semantic Web Technologies such as
ontologies, semantic web services, learning content, web
based educational systems,
emantic web standards, authoring environments, and so on.

The idea is to provide to participants of this workshop an opportunity i) to get to know
and discuss innovative educational environments by exploring different contributions
through the use of sema
ntic web technologies; ii) to investigate the construction of
educational environments under the perspective of the semantic web and iii) to bring
together researchers and graduate students in the area of the semantic web and
education. In addition, this i
nitiative has the objective of dissemination of the semantic
web in the design and construction of educational environments.
