technology. The Microsoft Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences Innovation Award is an opportunity to
show to the

medical community, consumers and patients how your company is using new technology to
revolutionize medicine by bringing therapeutic breakthroughs to the market faster, to fight serious
ailments, improve healthcare and enhance people’s quality of life. T
he Microsoft Pharmaceutical and
Life Sciences Innovation Award will be presented annually to the company which applies technology to
accomplish innovation excellence by improving the productivity of discovery and innovation, the
effectiveness of research a
nd development, the efficiency of manufacturing and supply chain
processes, the effectiveness of sales and marketing, and the optimization of business operations.

, entries will be judged on three criteria:

1.

T
he innovation represents a breakthrough from the industry’s historical approaches.

2.

The innovation goes beyond incremental improvements on technologies that already exist.

3.

The innovation improves the company’s ability to
improve speed and quality in manufac
turing,
supply chain management and product lifecycle management.


The award committee will accept nominations, from the operational, scientific, technical and business
executives including VPs, CIOs, and CTOs.


The solution (or combination of solutions)

can be offered
by any company worldwide as long as it is based on Microsoft technologies such as BizTalk Server,
Tablet PC, SQL Server 200

or higher, or Office System. The award emphasizes the innovative
application of available software and devices, an
d the creation of new solutions.

General Criteria



Any life sciences company that is a research
-
based pharmaceutical, bio
-
pharmaceutical, and
medical device worldwide is eligible to participate in the contest. However, companies
of the
following countries are ineligible to p
articipate: Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Sudan and Syria.




The technology used must be innovatively applied technology to increase the effectiveness of life
science research, the efficiency of Clinical Development or operational efficiency to improve
p
atient’s quality of life by bringing safer and efficacious pharmaceuticals to the market faster.



The solution (or combination of solutions) must be based on Microsoft technologies,
such as
BizTalk Server, Tablet PC, SQL Server 200

or higher, or Office Sy
stem.



All entries must be completed by

, at 5:00 PM Pacific Time.



Each entry must be written in English. The software or solution can be localized to a non
-
English
language; however, the entry form must be submitted in English.
