1. Introduction

The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers graduate programs leading to the
Master of Science (MS)

and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees. Our graduate
course work
is designed to provide a comprehensive education in a student's particular
area of research interest. Research

his figure shows the input and output windows of the power tower cycle simulation
software. Using the software, the steady state performance of the syst
em can be
analyzed. The steady state analysis can be applied for the basic design of the system.
The solar input is not steady at all so that the transient analysis is needed to look at
the each component reaction to the transient solar input. The transien
t analysis is
being performed using the commercial software.
