I am sending you my notes and you will find it very easy to solve because out tutor gave us
three example ,exactly like this assigmnet.

A simply supported reinforced concrete beam 700mm deep and 350 mm wide has an effective
span 0f 9 m onto support which are 320 mm wide .In addition to its own selfweight ,the beam
C35/45 concrete and will be inside a building where a fire resistance of 1

hours is required.
The main reinforcing bars are size H32 and the links are H12.Determine the reinforcement
required in t
he beam .Check that the deflection will be acceptable.

A braced rectangular column 350 mm* 450 mm in C32/40 concrete
carries at ULS an axial load
of 1500KN and a maximum bending moment of 200kN in the direction of the 450mm dimension.
Determine if the column is consider slender and the longitudinal reinforcement required .The
column has an effective length

of 2200 mm.

Steel floor beams are arranged as shown in the figure and support a reinforced concrete slab
with

a screed finish .Other design data is:

Slab thickness 200 mm; Screed weight 1.2 kN/m^2;Imposed load on slab;7.0kN/m^2;Assumed mass
of steel beams;75 kg/m.Choose a UB section in S 275 steel that has sufficient bending and shear
capacity at ULS,c
heck deflection at SLS.Please, see picture Steel beams.
