PROJECT
COST: $0.211M
PROJECT
DURATION: 24 months
REBUS
DESCRIPTION:
V
ery low power, self
-
contained ECM system
designed to mitigate RCIEDs. It has
a low power RF inhibitor
connected to an antenna in an RF shielded blast blanket.
The inhibition is contained beneath the blanket and focused
exclusively against the RCIED. The power output of the
REBUS jammer is held under the blanket by a layer of
electromagnetic screening fabric. This shield contains the
inhibition, so that all the power is employed against
defeating the remote transmission signal intended to initiate
the RCIED.
DELIVERABLE:
Three systems for several interagency
operational evaluations, currently with SW Border Bomb
Squads.
OPERATIONAL IMPACT:
Mitigation of suspect RCIEDs.
REQUIREMENT INITIATOR:
NBSCAB
SPONSORS:
CTTSO
PERFORMER:
Defense Life Sciences, Inc.
END USERS:
Public Safety Bomb Squads, JSEOD
TRANSITION:
Establish the capability as a low
-
cost,
limited replacement for high
-
end ECM without the
same operational issues of fratricide of
friendly/benign RF transmitters/receivers.
COMMERCIALIZATION:
COTS item.
