Recombinant DNA is the DNA that doesn’t really
exist naturally. This is the process to combine one part
of DNA with a plasmid.

The first step is to select a strand of DNA to be
inserted to the vector. The vector could be a plasmid
which is in some bacteria. The second step is to isolate
that piece of DNA with an enzyme and the vector too.
When they are cut there is an over hanging piece called
sticky ends. Another enzyme called a liagase reattaches
the two parts. Now it is inserted into a cell where when
it divides it will be passed down.



A benefit of recombinant DNA would that you could make
plants resistant to bugs without pesticides.


The dictionary definition of cloning is:a cell, cell product,
or organism that is genetically identical to the unit or
individual from which it was derived. This means that we
can create an exact copy of a cell if we need to.

The first step is to isolate a nucleus from a non
reproductive cell of a donor. This nucleus contains the info
of the organism that gave it. The next step is to get a
unfertilized egg. Next is to remove the nucleus of the egg.
Fourth is to add the donated nucleus and finally insert the
egg into the womb or the female.

The benefits of cloning can be to
correct certain cells that have went bad
(cancer) or cells that have died. We can
also copy perfect animals identical to the

Selective Breeding

Selective breeding is when you breed
certain plants or animals to get certain
traits form those plants or animals. In
this process you can also cross breed or
in plants they are called hybrids.

Step one: Chose a characteristic that you want

Step two: locate plant
animal with this characteristic

Step three: Breed
cross pollinate

Step four: Chose offspring that have the characteristic

Repeat the steps if necessary

The benefits of selective breeding is that you can breed
animals with more meat. Better plants that produce more
fruit et cetera.
