Training Course Pre
-
Requisites

1.

Introduction

The TaskCentre Technical Training Course is designed to be delivered by a TaskCentre Instr
uctor in a
classroom environment where each delegate has his or her own Workstation. This course can be run
either at an Orbis Training Centre or on Partner premises, provided that the necessary pre
-
requisites in
this document are made available.

2.

Delegates

The TaskCentre Technical Training Course is designed for an experienced technical audience.

Delegates should ideally have an appreciation of the following in order to gain full benefit from the
course. Although not all essential, a delegate significantly

lacking in knowledge in any of the following
may have reduced benefit from the course.

Windows 2000/XP/2003

Relational database concepts

Database Queries and SQL Syntax

Basic knowledge of Crystal Reports

Basic knowledge of HTML

Basic knowledge of FTP

3.

Inf
rastructure and Software

This section is only relevant if you are hosting the training course at your own premises as an alternative
to an Orbis Training Centre. If you are attending an Orbis Training Centre, all systems pre
-
requisites are
provided and the
re is no need to bring a laptop. The only item that you may wish to bring is a USB
Memory ‘Key’ if you wish to take your work away with you.

3.1.

Infrastructure

To host a TaskCentre training course, a minimum of infrastructure is required as follows.

3.1.1.

Host Serve
r

A host server will need to be made available on which the TaskCentre Server components will be
installed. The TaskCentre product is subject to Minimum and Recommended Hardware and System
requirements and these are detailed within the product help. It is
not necessary to install the product to
access the product help as this is available on the product media or within the download. Access to the
help is also offered at the very start of the setup process before proceeding.

The product should not be install
ed on the host server prior to the training session as the installation
process features within the Technical Training Course itself.

3.1.2.

Workstations

If possible, each Delegate should have their own workstation so that they can follow the instructor and
benef
it from the hands
-
on exercises provided in the Training course. We appreciate that this is not
always possible but would recommend a maximum of 2 delegates per workstation.

Again, the product should not be installed on the workstations prior to the course.

3.2.

Software

In order that the full breadth of training material can be covered it is necessary for certain software
systems to be put in place prior to the training course so that they are ready and operational when the
training material is delivered. These

items are as follows.

Windows 2000, 2003 or XP.

Microsoft IIS Server, with the Virtual SMTP Server option installed.

SMTP Server, accessible from the TaskCentre Server host machine via TCP/IP

FTP Server with full read/write access from the TaskCentre Ser
ver host machine and Workstations,
preferably on
-
site for performance and we recommend Microsoft IIS Server

HTML Editor, preferably Microsoft FrontPage

M:Science SMS Server, either on the TaskCentre Server host machine or other machine accessible to
the Ta
skCentre host machine via DCOM and with API enabled (The evaluation version is fine). This
product can be downloaded and service configured for free at
www.m
-
science.com

Crystal Reports
-

Developer Edition

Please
note that should any of these items be unavailable, the Instructor may choose to omit certain
content from the course. In some cases the Instructor may be able to deliver some of the content from
his or her laptop.
