MICROSOFT'S IIS SECURITY CHECKLIST
On May 19, Microsoft released a new document on its Web site titled,
"Microsoft Internet Information Server Security Checklist." The
document outlines the various steps that a user might need to take to
secure an Inter
net Information Server (IIS) server. Sections in the
document include Background Work, Windows NT 4.0 Settings, Internet
Information Server 4.0 Settings, Install Scanner or Intrusion Detection
Software, and Update the Emergency Repair Disk. You'll find
information useful in creating a more secure IIS server environment.
In September 1998, Windows NT Magazine published a how
"16 Steps to a Secure Web Server," which also details the steps to
building a secure IIS server.
