on the importance of Forests Goods and Services
for a
Green Economy
in the MENA region


Context & Background

Forests Goods and Services

(FGS)

in the MENA region are of main importance to societies and
territories, especially in rural areas. Nonetheless politics do not recognize at their right values all the
benefits they provide to the
populations in MENA countries

and the role they play in the

regional and
national development
.

In this context, the GIZ regional project Silva Mediterranea
-
CPMF

Adapting Forest Policy Conditions
to Climate Change in the MENA region

would like to produce a compilation document on
studies,experiences and initiat
ives in the MENA region (especially
in
the
six

countries : Morocco,
Tunisia, Algeria, Lebanon,
Syria,
Turkey) aiming
at recognizing, demonstrating and capturing the
value of Forest Ecosystems Goods and Services

and their role for a Green Economy
.

Task
description

The document will target

makers of the MENA region
, especially from the following sectors

forestry, environment, finance, tourism,

agriculture,

economy & trade
, and could have as tentative
title
