'Automation' is perceived as a cutting edge of competitive manufacturing and assumes paramount importance
in facilitating increased product
ivity at lower production costs. Automation can be deployed in a wide range of
activities such as loading, feeding, clamping, machining, forming, gauging, assembly and so on. The range of

to highly

isticated and expensive systems. For
automation to be successful, several aspects such as selection of automation elements, system integration
and organizational environment needs careful consideration.


The main aim of Low Cost Automation is to increase

the cost of production, and not reduce labour.
