Computerworld is a leading developer of bespoke learning
solutions. In conjunction with our ‘off-the-shelf’ learning resources,
this enables us to meet any of your staff training requirements,
helping to increase your productivity and development of staff.
Why might bespoke training
be needed?
Training has been inadequate or ‘on-the-job’
Many organisations operate software and systems that have been
specially created or tailored for them, and for which inadequate
or no properly structured training is available for staff. Others have
implemented enterprise-wide CRM systems, ERP tools and others for
which inadequate training was provided by the original supplier.
Staff have moved on, and new staff have joined

Similarly, it is not uncommon for staff who were originally trained on
a particular system to have moved on, and for new and untrained
staff to have arrived. In these cases, a system can quickly become
under-utlised, or used incorrectly.
With up-to-date, relevant training and continued learning
resources available, organisations can continue to access and
benefit from the full potential of their business tools.

What exactly is
‘bespoke development’?

Appropriate training for staff can be written and developed from
scratch, and delivered using a variety of delivery methods to
suit the way your organisation works. From traditional classroom
training to virtual classroom and full e-learning solutions, a specially
created content-authored programme can be created just for
you.
What tools and technologies
are employed?

Computerworld has extensive experience in creating bespoke
e-learning programmes using HTML, Java, Flash and other third
party tools. These are developed with your employees in mind to
generate a friendly and easy-to-use interface for further learning
and development.

n

E-learning module creation
– using HTML, Java, Flash and other
technologies such as Captivate, Articulate, even PowerPoint

n

Content authoring solutions
– allowing subject matter experts to create
business processes, online courses, simulations and tests, as well as user
guides, classroom courseware and job aids. These generally include an
LCMS (Learning Content Management System) to allow multiple developers
to author and manage content simultaneously
n

Learning Management Systems (LMS)
– such as Kalldus or Skillport, to help
manage the classroom and online learning, supplemented by off-the-shelf
content
The bespoke service
from Computerworld

There are a number of ways of creating your bespoke
development solution. We typically start by undertaking a
training needs analysis, and will speak to everyone from the CEO
downwards – in particular, the IT Managers, Project Managers and
people who will be directly affected by the project – to identify the
issues facing the business and to assess how the systems are being
used.

From here we can design, develop, test and implement a new
solution across the organisation.

How can training be delivered?

Every bespoke development solution is different, but the delivery
methods remain very similar. Computerworld’s focus is on practice
and engagement by the learner, so that knowledge is embedded
and reinforced.

Classroom training

Seminars, short hands-on sessions and in-depth training sessions
depending on the level and requirements of the individual users.
Computerworld’s exceptional trainers can run sessions in-house at
Computerworld headquarters, or at your own locations.

E-learning tools and resources
Online courses can be authored specifically for your organisation,
but we can also integrate existing KnowledgeCenter courses into
the programme as required. These are targeted and expertly
crafted e-learning resources prepared by our patrners at Skillsoft,
and include articles, e-learning courses and eBooks.

Distance learning
Virtual classroom learning allows delegates to choose whether
they attend a course in person or via an online connection via
webcam video-chat. This provides the benefits of a real person
within a classroom environment, but can be accessed from a more
convenient location such as an office or home.
