Genetic Engineering Project Rubric

(Part III)

You have been given the job of informing the public about a specific genetic engineering
project. As part of your job, you will be given a tabletop at a conference and be expected to
present this information

to other participants. Your presentation should include the following
information in a format that can be clearly understood in a short period of time. Be sure to
choose a specific application of genetic engineering that has already occurred or is curre
ntly
being attempted. It can be any type, but pick one instance. For example, cloning is too large a
topic, but cloning cows is fine.

Part I: Choosing a topic

Part II: Researching your topic

Part III: Presenting your topic

Part IV: Researching and le
arning about other types of genetic engineering

Part V: Persuasive essay on genetic engineering

A detailed description of what your genetic engineering end product is and how it works in the
organism(s).

Explains the past and present and future i
mpacts (positive and negative) on society. Includes the possible
implications/applications of this type of genetic engineering.

Other work that clearly shows extra effort and/or understanding of the topic
