fter BUCT) is a state key university directly under the
Ministry of Education and a key university of the national Project 211. It is a multi
-
disciplinary university with
science and engineering retained as the core disciplines with the addition of arts, t
he science of law, management
and economics to the core curriculum, and has formed the multi
-
layer personnel training pattern ranging from
continuing education to undergraduate education, postgraduate education, doctoral education and the education
for int
ernational students.

It consists of 10 colleges, offering 24 Doctoral specialties, 50 Master’s programs and 41 Bachelor programs.
Staffed by 1800 outstanding faculty and researchers, BUCT has 550 full professors and associate professors, 8
academicians of
Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering.

BUCT pays close attention to international academic and cultural education exchange. It has established friendly
cooperation relationship with over 40 universities. Numerous foreign scholars a
nd noted professors are invited
for lecturing and cooperative research. Besides, BUCT has successfully held many international academic
conferences and thus enjoyed high world reputation.

The current student body of the university is 20,000, including 3,70
0 doctoral and graduate students and 11,100
undergraduate students. In addition, there are more than 200 international students and 5000 students for further
study.

BUCT attaches great importance to international academic and cultural educational exchange
and actively
develops cooperative projects with foreign partners. Since 1996 it has signed cooperation agreements with 44
foreign universities and large multinational companies. Many companies, such as Dupont, DOW, BASF and
Bayer, provide scholarships for
BUCT students. Since 2000, BUCT has achieved great progress in its education
program for foreign students. During the last ten years, there have been more than 2,000 foreign students
enlisting in our language study programs, undergraduate, graduate and doc
toral programs. In 2006, the number
of foreign students in high
-
end programs including undergraduate, graduate and doctoral studies accounts for
more than 40% among total foreign students in the university.
