GENERAL INFORMATION

System Requirements

The minimum system requirements for browsing the
journal and the virtual library are as follows:

Computer: A PC, with Windows XP or higher.
Apple/Macintosh PC with System 8.0 or greater

Hardware: 4 gb or more of RAM, video card with 1
-
2
megabytes of VRAM, video accelerator, sound card

Monitor resolution: We recommend at least a 22
inch monitor with resolution of 1024x768 or
preferably higher.

Software: All image files are viewable by softwares
which do not require video cards to be installed. AVI,
MOV, QT, and MPG movie files can be viewed by
software programs and there is no need for a video
card. Movie files with sound require a sound card.
WAV, and AU sound files can be played by software
through the PC speaker. The quality of sound will be
dependent upon the speaker. Most internet software
applications require an active internet connection in
order to run. To some extent, local HTML files are
browsable without an internet connection by word
processing softwares. Many other aspects of the
journal may require other software and/or hardware.

Internet connection: Wired or wireless with speed of
at least 1 megabyte per second.

Browser: You can view the "Frontiers in Bioscience"
using different types of browsers. However, we
recommend the most recent version of Internet
Explorer. Your browser should have the capability of
showing graphics and handling frames. Considering
that images, video and sound clips are an integral
part of certain databases and documents, a graphical
browser is highly recommended. As the browsers
develop more features, we keep adding these new
features to the journal. Therefore, we highly
recommend that you periodically upgrade your
browser. Unless you upgrade your browser, you will
not be able to take advantage of new features. In
addition, old browsers may not display the new pages
of the journal properly. If you experience problems
and have an older browser, please consider updating
your browser. Maxthon which was known as MyIE2 is
a full featured browser with many security features
and unique attributes not found in other browsers.
FBS supports the use of this browser.

TYPES OF
COMMUNICATIONS

Manuscripts describing
recent and important
advances in the fields of
biology or medicine will be
considered for publication in
the Frontiers in Bioscience.
Manuscripts will be published
in one of the following
platforms.

TYPES OF
COMMUNICATIONS

Research articles in basic and clinical sciences

Technical notes and protocols

Reviews in basic and clinical sciences

Multimedia medicine on line (Videos, sounds and
images, VRML)

Databases

Proceedings of National and International
Conferences

Lectures

GENERAL INFORMATION

Aims and Scope

The journal "Frontiers in Bioscience" is a
modern forum for scientific communication.
Data and information that are useful to
investigators in any discipline in biology and
medicine including Biochemistry, Microbiology,
Parasitology, Virology, Immunology,
Biotechnology, And Bioinformatics will be
published after they have been peer reviewed.
This will include reviews and research articles
in basic science and clinical science, as well as
technical notes and protocols. Other materials
that have not been traditionally published as
peer reviewed articles will also be considered
for publication. This will include, rare images
,videos and sounds, and assimilated data in
the form of a database on any subject in
medicine and biology. The journal will include
useful search strategies of internet and
databases related to biology and medicine,
links to medically relevant journals and the
guidelines to authors of scientific journals and
as well as information regarding
manufacturers' products and links to
manufacturers' homepages. Other items that
will be posted are book reviews, as well as a
list of conferences.
