Taking
Care of Your LVT Flooring
If you are considering installing your own wooden floors, you may have a good idea how to do it and
if you are quite confident with that skill you can go ahead with that. However, there are some aspects
of wooden floor installation that most people are either unaware of or simply overlook. Here are two
questions that if you have an answer to either question would help you tremendously in your future
projects. Where should you put
LVT Flooring
?
Where should you stop?
Most people would think that a good quality lvt flooring installation should be done in a professional
shop or factory. However, this is not always the case. In some cases installing a high quality lvt
flooring can actually save money over purchasing ready made vinyl floor planks from a store. The
secret to a high quality finish is acclimatization, which means leaving the doors and drawers of the
room open for at least 48 hours before laying the subfloor.
Luxury vinyl floors to deteriorate faster
To properly acclimate your wood you need to prepare the subfloor to allow for the installation of your
chosen
LVT Flooring
. To do this you must make sure
that it is completely smooth. You must clean
the surface thoroughly using all sorts of a vacuum and warm soapy water. It is important to remove
all dust and debris from the surface. Once the surface is ready you can begin to place your lvt
flooring either on top of the subfloor or beside it. It is important to keep in mind that most vinyl
flooring planks will only fit into a floor area that is at least two to three inches thick.
When installing the lvt flooring you must be very careful that you do not install it too close to an
electrical junction box. If you do this then there is a chance that the floorboards could bend. Even if
the boards are made with a thicker design, it is still very possible for the board to bend around the
junction box. This will cause a lower quality finish and will cause your luxury vinyl floors to
deteriorate faster.
Best to contact a reputable company
Although most luxury vinyl flooring is very durable, it is always a good idea to regularly check the
product for damage. The easiest way to tell if there is damage is to simply press the sheet vinyl
LVT
Flooring
against a wooden surface. If the board does
not have any imprints or scratches then it is
in very good condition. Unfortunately if you find any damage then it is best to contact a reliable and
established repair company to deal with the problem. It is also best to contact a reputable company
who will be able to give you professional advice on how best to take care of the damaged product.
Good idea when it comes to taking care of your
LVT
Flooring
Another good idea when it comes to taking care of your
LVT Flooring
is to cover it at least twice a
year. This can be done easily during summer months when you remove the coverings and put them
back on. During winter it is advisable to cover the wood using a heavy duty plastic sheet. The reason
why you should remove the coverings during the winter is because the heat causes the vinyl floor to
expand which in turn causes the boards to crack. If you live in an area where the temperature varies
throughout the year then it is advisable to ensure that you remove the coverings before it is
necessary to do so. Remember to check your instruction manual as well as your manufacturer's
instructions because the thickness of the material can vary considerably.
