Previously we talked about making our own digital
control system based on a long list of requirements
new control system design for Advanced LIGO meets all of our
requirements
We will start from this system
need to use this scheme in Hannover for AdvLIGO PSL anyway
saves us doing the work
we can contribute to the Advanced LIGO system

The Advanced LIGO control system
Based on PCs running Real-Time Linux
commercial real-time operating system – RTLinuxPro
Uses PCIX architecture for interface boards
ADC, DAC, DIO, real-time network
tested/specified I/O boards from General Standards (USA)
>21-bits resolutions ADC, sample rate 64kHz demonstrated
(few kHz servo bandwidth possible)
Uses home-grown timing system to clock I/O boards
Control software is based on current LIGO system
home-grown applications based on EPICS
MATLAB/Simulink, c-code, scripts
